The Government College of Art & Design (GCAD), Nagpur, offers a two-year Art Teacher Diploma (A.T.D.) program for aspiring educators.The curriculum combines foundational training in art and design with essential teaching methodologies, educational psychology, and classroom management. Graduates are qualified to teach art in primary and secondary schools and to lead community art workshops and programs.With specializations including :
1.Creative Painting, 2. Portrait Painting, 3. Printmaking, 4. Illustration,
5.Typography, 6.Photography, 7.Creative Sculpture, 8. Portrait Sculpture.
These programs emphasize technical proficiency, conceptual depth, and studio-based practice. Designed to nurture individual artistic expression and professional competence, the curriculum blends traditional techniques with contemporary and interdisciplinary approaches, preparing students for careers as artists, designers, educators, and researchers in the evolving art and design landscape.
To be eligible for admission to the A.T.D. program, candidates must: Have passed the HSC (10+2) or an equivalent examination
Admission to the Art Teacher Diploma (A.T.D.) program is granted on the basis of merit, based on the candidate’s performance in the HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination.
